McLean picked up fly fishing as a self taught youngster on a $20 Walmart rod. After fishing damn near every week for over a decade he began to long for super “fancy” high end fly rods. After realizing how overpriced ALL premium fly rods are he thought, “why not look into making high performance rods my own damn self?” Being a scientist, this eventually led to a significant amount of experimentation and development of rods that excel in saltwater. After realizing how awesome the rods were the next logical step was to make these rods available to the public at a far more reasonable price than other overpriced inferior rods. The end goal is to remove the barrier to entry to the sport of fly fishing by providing high performance fly rods to a far broader audience than the financial elite.
